The purpose and content of the leadership training program
for the cabinet students

We started this training program three years before. With this we have conducted a total of 49 leadership training programs here. A total of about 55 schools have benefited from this.

In India we do not lack leaders. Every street and lane has leaders. What we lack are visionary leaders, leaders who are honest and sincerely concerned about their social responsibly. Leaders who lead from the front and consider that Nation is above everything. Therefore keeping in mind, the need of creating enlightened leaders with vision and spirituality USM began this cabinet leadership training program, so that we can build young leaders from our own class rooms, who will be able to influence their family, friends, school, society, nation and the world.

In order to develop their leadership qualities, we provide many inputs on vision formulation, practical tips for the personality development, time Management, Pluralistic Spirituality our National Heritage and gift of God. They are also made aware of the economic, socio, political and religious context of India.

In order to give a first hand experience of all that they heard in the class room, we take them to the Non- Formal centers run by Sankalp project of DBSS for the working children of the slums of Indore. From there they are taken to the biggest Super market of Indore city, the Treasure Island. Thus they get a clear idea of the two faces of India.

As we all know electronic media is a powerful medium of education. We show them a few selected movies like Pratighat, Gandhi, Bhagat Singh,  as they highlight many of the Indian situations. We give them an introduction to see the film in a particular point of view in its totality and evaluation is done after the film so that the characters of these movies may inspire them how to withstand the struggles of life and stand alone for their values. Change oneself to change the world is the motto of USM.  We share with them the Five paths for personal transformation.

In order to become a great leader both competence and conscience is a must. Therefore with the view to develop their skills, training is given, in writing reports,  public speaking, letter to the editor, book review etc. Thus they learn to make their own opinions and communicate them effectively. Thus we help and guide the children to have an opinion and make right choices in life to be enlightened visionary leaders.

Power point presentation, documentaries and group work are other methods followed to make the sessions effective.

The students also write their individual experience of these 7 days training and make an action plan for themselves. Two of them will share their experience with you. At the end of the program the students along with their teacher animators and the principal will formulate a vision and action plans to be implemented in the school. They will soon share it with us.

To ensure the sustainability and the effectiveness of this training we also teach them to conduct core group meeting at least once in two weeks. This will help them to evaluate, plan and monitor the implementation of their personal and the group activities.
